The book and the show are different because the show was set in present day and used modern technology, whereas the book was set in the past. In the show, their were 4 deaths by pill and the one that Sherlock and Watson investigated in the show was a woman instead of a man. In the book, "Rache" was written on the wall in blood and the clue was revenge(rache is revenge in German). In the show, "Rache" was carved in the floor and the clue was Rachel.

The short story and the show are different because the story was written a long time ago while the show was made modern day and it used technology that wasn't invented back then. In the show, the deaths were thought to be suicide while in the book, the deaths were thought to be forced death. Also, in the book, the clue "Rache" was meant to be the German word for revenge but in the show, "Rache" was meant to be the name Rachel and the password for the victims email so they could track her phone.

The story and the movie were different because of technology. I do think the plot was effected by the setting because Sherlock and Watson used technology to track the murderer. The movie was also different because the clue was "Rachel" instead of "rache" and the victim was a girl.

I thought the show was affective in the modern day setting but the show was different from the short story in many ways. The show used modern technology in many ways which was different because in the short story it was set in the Victorian age. Also in the show there was a woman who wrote "RACHE" and was murdered, but in the short story Enoch Drebber was killed. In the show the word "RACHE" meant a clue with the name Rachel, but in the short story the clue was that it was the German word for revenge. I would rate the show 3 stars on how it relates to the short story because of how the character traits are different like how Watson wanted to see a dead body and investigate, but in the short story he is not so eager to.

I think that the show is effective in the modern day setting, but has a very different plot from the story. In the show John Watson uses a tracker to locate the victim's phone. In the book they don't have that technology. Also there were four victim's not two. I would give the show three stars based on how it relates to the story because of the time, plot and characters.

I think it is efective to have to story be in modern day because there is more technology around that Sherlock and Watson can use as they investigate. Also we know more information about crime scenes like this now, then we did in the past, because there is more technology to help us figure out certain things. Sherlock and Watson have access to laptops, and cellphones, where in the book these objects were not available. Overall I thought the show was pretty entertaining, and thought they did a good job covering the story of "A Study in Scarlet", I would rate this show with a 5.

I think it was effective. The modern day setting made it very different. Like how the phone led them to the murderer. Also there are 4 victims not 2. And instead of the clue being Rache it was Rachel also known as the victims deceased daughter.

I think the modern day setting was effective in 'A Study in Pink". It made the book a little easier to picture because it was in a setting that was familiar to me and used devices that i also use. Such as phones and a city with cars and a modern day college.

I think the story, its characters, plot, etc. is effective. Although the show is very different from the book like how the show is set in modern day and there is different murder, motive and victims it shows how sherlock is very mysterious and a genius. I would give the show 4 stars because it keeps you on the edge of your seat wondering who the murder was and the motive even though being very different to a study in scarlets plot.

The book and the show Sherlock Holmes were very different. This is because the book was set in present day which was many years ago, whereas the show is set in modern day, where they use many modern techniques and technology. In the book there were 2 victims who were killed by a pill but i the show there where 4 victims killed. Also, in the book the victim they investigated was a man and it had said "RACHE" and Sherlock proclaimed it to mean the german word revenge and it was above his head. But, in the show, it had said "RACHE" next to the victims head, and, the victim was a women not a man in the show. In the show, Sherlock proclaimed that "RACHE" meant a girls name, Rachel. I would rate the show a 4 and a half stars because I have intact seen the other epodes and seasons in my free time. The show has proven its self to be a fantastic show. Sherlock and Watson are amazing actors.

I thought the modern setting was effective for the plot, characters etc. because it helped me picture the characters and setting. I think that the show represented the book very well even though some of the plot was off for example "RACHE" meant Rachel instead of revenge in German. Also 4 people were murdered instead of 2. I would give the show "A Study In Pink" a 4.5 star rating because it had s few key parts changed

I believe that the modern day setting in "A Study in Pink" was very effective, because it helped me visualize the characters, the setting, and it also helped me understand the plot better too. However, the TV show was quite different from the original book, because of the setting, and the plot was completely different. Instead of two murders, there were four. The names Enoch Drebber and Joseph Stangerson were never mentioned. The murderer had a sponsor. As for the clues, the phrase "Rache" was a clue for the name "Rachel", and not for the German word for revenge, and was written on the floor by the victim, and not on the walls by the murderer. I give this show 4 star rating because they did a very good job showing what was happening, and the actors were great, though they changed some important parts.

I think the story in effective in modern day, to an extent. I think having the story placed in a modern setting allows the characters to use more resources, like the internet, to solve the crime. Although having the story be set in the 1890s, like in the book, forces the characters to think more and not rely on sources other than their magnificent brains. I also think that the TV show leaves out certain details from the original books. Also the TV show makes differences in the storyline which I feel makes the show something of its own, something unexpected to look forward to.

I think the stories characters, plot etc are effective. I think this because in modern day they were given technology which helped them solve the case, for instants in a study in pink they used gps to track the killer. Also there were 4 deaths instead of 2 in the book

I believe that the show was effective on certian points and not so much so on others. Obviously, the show was still Sherlock Holmes and John Watson deducing a crime in London, but the technology factor was a major diffrence. It allowed Sherlock and Watson to track the killer via GPS, which was definitely not avaliable to the characters back in the 1800's. I also believe that Gregson showed up in the form of Anderson, but that Sherlock was not so resentful to him in the book. I understand that for entertainment purposes some key points like how many people died and the clue being Rachel not RACHE were left out, only because the show needs to stay on the air and make money. I would give the acting/casting a 4, the connection to the story a 3, the entertainment value a 5, the plot line a 4, and the overall show a 4.

I think that A Study In Pink is not that great of a modern version of A Study In Scarlet because the modern technology interferes with how they solved the mystery in A Study In Scarlet. For example, they use a computer to track down a cell phone used by the murderer. In A Study In Scarlet it took more time to solve these mysteries. In the tv show they did change a lot; 4 suicides, Rachel instead of RACHE, and victim was a girl.

The book and the show are very different. In the show, the characters are dependent on technology like cell phones and computers instead of wits, which is really what makes Sherlock Holmes such an incredible detective. Also, half of the plot was changed, rache ment Rachel not revenge and there were 4 deaths and a different killer. So overall the show does not do an effective job of representing the true story of sir Arthur Conan Doyle's story of "a study in scarlet" however, I would give this show a 3.5 stars because although it did not match the plot of "a study in scarlet" the incorporation of modern day technology makes it exciting to see how Sherlock would react in a modern day setting. Also, the reinevtation of the plot was very unique and clever and extremely entertaining.

I think "A Study in Pink" was effective because they did a very good job with Sherlocks characteristics. In both the book and the movie Sherlock was very smart and was socially awkward. For example in "A Study in Pink" one of Sherlocks colleagues asked him on a date and he didn't even realize it, which is definently something he would do in the book. I thought that the Setting was also displayed well in "A Sstudy in Pink" and was exactly how I imagined it. One thing that wasn't effective was how Watsons characteristics were different. For example in the movie he was more excited to investigate and wasn't as shy as was told in the book. I also wasn't a big fan of how Gregson and Lestrade had more of a minor role rather than a major role in the movie. Overall I think the producers did a great job making the book into a movie!
